Girard Baptist Church was started in 1950, at 1300 Girard NE, by Dr. W.D. Wyatt, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Girard continued to grow as a Mission Congregation until 1955 when she was organized as a Southern Baptist Church, affiliated with The Central Baptist Association and The Baptist Convention of New Mexico.

Rev. Tony Chavez, was called to lead the congregation in 1983 and continues as it's present Pastor.

Several years ago, Girard began the process of restructuring its ministry in order to better minister to believers... and reach unchurched individuals in and around the Albuquerque area.

Girard Baptist Church is currently providing the leadership, strategies and resources necessary to build the Simple Ministry necessary to turn unbelievers into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Part of this process includes partnering with other existing ministries...
The forming of a marketing and ministry outreach called TheGodPath.org...
And the planting of the first of a network of new congregations called TheSouthwestChurch.
